This is a 00-gauge model layout based on the terminus of the GWR branch line to Newcastle Emlyn. This model has been exhibited twice in its original design before being developed and since then has enjoyed three further exhibitions in 2008 and 2009.
The terminus has a loop for locomotives to run around the train and is well equipped with sidings, a goods shed, cattle dock and coal staithes. There is a small engine shed built in corrugated iron to house one engine. The line originally had a small turntable but it was removed many years before closure and the model is based on thar period without a turntable. Alongside the branch line are two small industrial units, a fuel storage tank and a wool factory.
At present we are extending the layout to make an L-shaped layout with a fiddle yard attached. This extension is modelling the next station, Henllan, on the line which features two platforms which constitute a passing loop. The second platform is an island platform which is dedicated to the passenger traffic. The line behind the island platform serves the goods shed and the coal siding and loops back onto the main branch line. There are three sidings in total for goods traffic, one has a cattle dock, the second is for general freight and the third is the coal siding.
Construction of the station is underway as is the scenery around the site. On completion many interesting and fascinating operations will arise.
